Waste Management: Gas to Energy Plant in Illinois

Waste Management is jointly working with Illinois' Will County to develop a landfill gas-to-energy plant an existing recycling and disposal facility near Wilmington, Ill.

According to the agreement, WM will build and operate the facility. The goal is to generate electricity for the area and expected to be operating by the end of 2010.

Money to fund the project will be sought through federal economic stimulus funds set aside for renewable energy projects.
