Solar Power: Calling All Houston Business Leaders
Texas has what it takes to be the national leader in solar power. We have the most solar radiation in the country, are home to the world's largest supplier of solar-grade silicon, and we're innovators in the high-tech industry.
But Texas hasn't capitalized on our natural advantages and, as a result, incentive programs offered by other states are luring solar manufacturers away. In fact, Texas is only ninth in the country for solar energy, tied with Wisconsin.
But by creating renewable energy incentives, rebates, and a renewable energy standard, Texas can be a leader.
We're working to get the Public Utility Commission of Texas to boldly put us on the solar map by supporting policies to develop 1,000 megawatts of solar power by 2015.

Texas helped create a boom for wind power, and it can do the same for solar. It’s time we harness the power of the sun, bringing billions of dollars in business to the state, creating thousands of new jobs and helping to bring clear, blue skies to back to Texas.
